Casa de la Salsa is a “dance group” of individuals who are active in New York City’s unique and diversified salsa community. However, we are not simply a student group or a professional group, or any kind of group you can easily label with a set style, demographic, uniform taste or look. We are dancers, choreographers, writers, directors, performers, musicians, teachers, students, researchers, technicians and/or artists and we are from 5 continents; 4 boroughs and New Jersey; mixed-race, mixed-ethnicity, mixed-age, mixed-background. We live, work and dream in New York City – the pavement, concrete jungle and hyper-active rhythm of this island is our home. The group has performed all over the NYC area at benefits, various NYC clubs, events and socials, and recently at the 2nd Annual Connecticut Salsa Congress. We’ve performed at events for HBO, the UN, C-N-B-Cn, Isabella Nursing Home, The Ralph Bunche School, Almyra’s Tsunami Fundraiser, Claudine Curry’s Mambo2Chacha Socials, Hope Iniciativa to benefit Casa Bernabe, and Patricia Chao’s book release party at La Nacional for “Mambo Peligroso.”
JOIN US ON MYSPACE! Our friends include some of New York City's top musicians and dancers, and we want our dance/music community to grow and network with one another. |
